On October 19, it was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic that Andre Ingram is to be the President of the new NBA G League Players Union.
Ingram, who has played 449 games in the G League since 2007, has proved to be a popular selection. With many players, industry professionals, and fans applauding the hiring.
He was famously called up to the Los Angeles Lakers back in 2018 and 2019, garnering worldwide coverage. With the prior call up, Ingram (32) became the oldest American rookie in the NBA since at least 1964. He scored 19 points in his debut against the Houston Rockets, where he drained four 3-pointers.
David Stockton, son of NBA legend John Stockton, was unveiled as the Vice President. The G League veteran has showed out 169 times in the NBA’s official minor league, last for the South Bay Lakers. For the upcoming 2020-21 season, Stockton signed with Puerto Rican outfit, Mets de Guaynabo.
The Secretary-Treasurer role in the union will be filled by G League Ignite member, Isaiah Todd. The 19-year-old passed on college, instead opting to join the new G League Select Team. He is ranked as a top selection in the 2021 NBA Draft.
